Friday May 4, 2001 MarketComm Completes Column Series for Textile/Apparel Industry PubCHARLOTTE, NC, May 4, 2001 -- MarketComm President Stern Dixon recently completed a series of eight columns on Supply Chain Management for Henderson Advertising in Greenville, S.C.The columns ran periodically since last fall in Daily News Record, the premiere newspaper covering the world-wide men~s apparel market. The columns were penned for a variety of opinion leaders in the textile and apparel industry and were developed to promote discussion in the industry about what needed to be done to improve management of the global supply chain. The goal of supply chain management is to profitably supply consumer demand for product. Henderson Advertising hired MarketComm to develop the series for one of its clients because of Dixon~s background in both textiles and retail. "I spent more than 10 years in the retail business at a time when technology was rapidly reshaping supply chain dynamics," Dixon said. "At the same time, wage pressures in America were pushing suppliers offshore or out of business. Today, the textile and apparel industry is completely different than it was two decades ago. This column series examined what it would take for the U.S. to regain leadership in this vital industry." For the series Dixon interviewed venture capitalists, information technology providers, trade and customs consultants, textile company leaders and apparel manufacturers.
